Food & Nutrition Services
Healthy Choices
At Pikeville Independent Schools, students will find healthy choices in their school cafeterias.
Pikeville Independent Schools will be serving school meals that meet tough new federal nutrition standards, ensuring that meals are healthy, well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school.
School meals offer students milk, fruits and vegetables, proteins and grains, and they must meet strict limits for saturated fat and portion size.
Having a healthy breakfast is a great way to start your day! Pikeville Independent Schools offer breakfast daily beginning at 7:30am. until classes begin.
School lunches will meet additional standards requiring:
Age-appropriate calorie limits
Larger servings of vegetables, fruits and protein.
A wider variety of vegetables (including dark green and red/orange vegetables and legumes).
Fat-free, 1%, whole and flavored milk options.
More whole grains and less sodium.
We’re always working to offer our students healthier and tastier choices.
In addition to meeting new standards, we’re also providing students the chance to give feedback through student surveys and taste testing new products.
School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families.
Food Service Fees
For School Year 25/26, students will receive one breakfast and one lunch per school day at no cost.
A school breakfast and lunch tray is provided at no cost to students as our school is a CEP* school. The cost of any extra trays, al a carte or snack items will be charged to student accounts. A list of prices is posted at each POS and is available upon request. Parents can pay for these extras online through our website at the Infinite Campus Parent Portal if your child should choose to purchase them.
School Menus
School menus are available to families via the Pikeville Independent Schools app/Dining. For more information visit our district website or contact our board office at (606) 432-8161.
Community Eligibility Provison (CEP)
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)* provides nutritious meals at no charge to all students enrolled in this school. The CEP program is directed toward schools in economically disadvantaged areas. The United States Department of Agriculture administers this program under the National School Lunch Program. Your school will ask you to complete a Household Income Form (HIF) to determine your eligibility to receive additional benefits and determine school funding levels through both state and federal programs. Completing the form will only take a few minutes and will benefit you and your school. Return this form, along with your other registration materials, to your school district contact. Questions on completion of the form should be directed to your school’s FRAM Coordinator. Your district’s Food Service Director can answer any questions regarding the CEP program.
