Notice of Nomination Opening
2026-2027 School-Based Decision Making Council Parent Election

Pikeville Junior High / High School Parents may vote for two (2) parents to serve on the 2026-2027 School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council. Two parents will be elected.

Pikeville Elementary School Parents may vote for three (3) parents to serve on the 2026-2027 School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council. Three parents will be elected.

Parents of rising 26-27 7th Grade students nominate & vote at Pikeville High School

Parents of the respective schools will hold voting in the lobby of each school on April 21st, 2026 during the following windows of time at both locations:

April 21st, 2026:

7:30AM - 8:30AM

12:00PM - 1:00PM

3:00PM - 5:30PM

Nominations are due by 3:00 PM April 16th, 2026.

School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council: This council, advised by the school’s staff, makes policies on curriculum, instructional practices, schedules for the school’s staff and students, uses of school space, discipline and classroom management and extracurricular programs. The council also decides what instructional materials the school will use, what support services the school will provide for its students; and how many people the school will employ in each job classification.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SBDM MEMBERS: Any parent or step-parent, foster parent, or legal guardian of a student who will be attending the school during the parent’s term of office may run. A parent is ineligible if he/she is an employee or relative of an employee of that school or the district central office, or a local school board member or the spouse of a school board member. Training is REQUIRED for new members (6 hours) or re-elected members (3 hours). All training will be required to be IN-PERSON. All nominated council members must agree to appropriate background checks.

Terms of Office: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027. Terms of council members shall be for one (1) year. Current council members are eligible for re-election.
