Pikeville High School is incredibly proud to celebrate Ricky Slone on being named a 2027 National Merit Semifinalist! This achievement places Ricky among less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide, selected from more than 1.2 million students who entered the National Merit Scholarship Program.

More than 16,000 students across the nation were named Semifinalists this year. These outstanding students now have the opportunity to continue competing for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships totaling nearly $24 million. About 95% of Semifinalists are expected to advance to Finalist standing, based on their academic record, school and community involvement, leadership, honors, employment, an application and essay, and SAT or ACT performance.

This incredible accomplishment is a reflection of Ricky’s hard work, dedication, academic excellence, and commitment to pursuing excellence. We could not be more proud to have him represent Pikeville High School and the Panther Family at the national level!
