All students grades K-12 are invited to participate in this enriching opportunity that is centered around the SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) blueprint and the idea of Coal in Appalachia. Good morning! Pikeville Independent Schools will be on regular scheduled today, Tuesday, February 24th, 2026. Due to some flurries overnight that sporadically placed a light; dry cover of snow in a few of our side roads and higher elevations, we do have two route adjustments this morning. Bus 172 will only run Williams Hollow to the intersection of Rachel Drive this morning. Also, Bus 201 will NOT run Cedar Gap this morning. Students on Cedar Gap can meet the bus at Peachtree Drive. Thanks so much! If these two adjustments create issues for your child to arrive to school, please contact their school, and we will work to make arrangements. I hope you have a safe and blessed day!

Congratulations to our Pikeville Elementary STLP Sphero Hero Robotics team and their State Qualification! #RoadtoRupp is heating up and we are excited to see these students compete at Rupp Arena in April!

Parent line students will be dismissed at approximately 12:40. We know the notice is short, so we will keep kids in our care whose parents take a few extra moments to arrive. Afternoon activities will not take place.

Good afternoon Panther Families! After speaking with NWS Jackson and local meteorologists, there is a heavy band of snow going to approach our area after 1pm. As a result, and out of an abundance of caution, we will dismiss PHS student drivers at 12:30 and buses will dismissed at 12:45. I'm sorry for the adjustment to the day, but we want to assure we provide the safest possible conditions for our students based upon the information we have available. Good evening everyone! It was awesome to have our students and staff back in our buildings today. We know there has been a lot of discussion about weather tomorrow. Based upon our conversation with NWS Jackson and another local meteorologist who is always willing to provide assistance, precipitation will arrive after we begin the school day, and temperatures will be above freezing beginning mid-morning and running throughout our school day. With the being the case, our plan is for Pikeville Independent Schools to be on a REGULAR SCHEDULE tomorrow, Friday, February 6th, 2026. We have a call scheduled tomorrow morning at 5am to assure the forecast and temperatures continue to be the same. If any adjustments are necessary to our plan, we will make that announcement by 5:30. Good morning Panther Families! After reevaluating our road conditions this morning, Pikeville Independent Schools will remain on a ONE HOUR DELAY today, Thursday, February 5th, 2026. Roads have dried significantly overnight, and with the help of the outstanding road crews who work long hours across our city and communities, we have seen significant clearing. As always please be safe driving across any spots that might have melted off of driveways or side roads. We will once again only run Williams Hollow to the intersection of Rachel Drive for the safety of the bus turnaround. Our parking lots have also dried significantly overnight, and we are salting them again as we speak. We cannot wait to see our students and staff back in our buildings today. Good evening Panther Families! After evaluating road conditions throughout the evening, we have begun to see significant drying from the rain, snow and melting snow over the past two days. In order to allow for additional daylight for our student drivers, faculty, staff, buses and families, Pikeville Independent Schools will be on a ONE HOUR DELAY tomorrow, Thursday, February 5th, 2026. We will reevaluate roads early tomorrow morning to assure there has not been issues with refreezing overnight, and will inform you of any necessary changes first thing. Good morning! Pikeville Independent Schools will be Closed on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026 due to inclement weather. After reviewing our roads over the past hour and a half, while some remain wet, our upper elevations and side roads are snow covered and extremely slick in several areas. With precipitation continuing and temperatures expected to drop throughout the morning, based on our conversation with NWS Jackson, the conditions do not allow for us to be in school. While we hate to be out, and do apologize for the inconvenience, the safety of our students, staff and families must be a priority. This will be a REGULAR SNOW DAY. Good evening everyone! Pikeville Independent Schools will be on REGULAR SCHEDULE tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026. We do have one route adjustment. Bus 172 will run to the first curve on Williams Hollow (Intersection of Williams Hollow Road and Rachel Drive) and will turn there due to difficulty with the regular turnaround for the bus. If you cannot get your child to that spot, please call the school and we will work to make alternate arrangements for you. We hope you have a safe and blessed evening!

Just a reminder, our Winter Break that was preciously schedule is Friday, January 30th and Monday, February 2nd. I wanted to inform you that Tuesday, January 27th, 2026 will be NTI Day #1 for Pikeville Independent Schools, due to inclement travel conditions and being under a Cold Weather Advisory. Teachers and staff will be available remotely throughout the day to provide any assistance needed by our students. Also, if you have any issue or need additional assistance, our schools and district office will be open and ready to assist. Office hours will be from 10-3 in our schools tomorrow.
