Good evening Panther Family! I want to thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility today. Every day that you give us your children, we are truly humbled by the trust you place in us, and I hope you always know how important it is to us to keep the kids and adults of this district safe. I can tell you that there was never greater evidence of that than today, as our faculty, staff and students were awesome. From the moment our lockdown and lockout began at both schools, they followed protocol, and were outstanding in all aspects. We are so thankful for each of them.
There is not a way I can ever say thank you enough to Pikeville Police, Pikeville Fire, and Mayor Carter, who were all on our campus in a matter of minutes. Their value for the kids and adults of our district is unmatched, and on days like today, that shines through even brighter.
I'm sorry for the worry and concern that events like these cause, and that our kids have to deal with them. These threats were part of a larger string of threats that occurred across multiple states today, but please know we will always take them seriously. Our police are working with state and federal authorities who are already investigating these calls that have occurred. We are blessed by the trust you place in us, and are thankful for the support you give. I hope you have a safe and blessed evening!
Good afternoon! Dismissal for student drivers from PHS has begun. Students who park off campus will be transported by bus to those locations. Following that dismissal, parent pickup will begin. Bus dismissal will be at regular time for both schools. PES dismissal will begin a few minutes early, but will be similar to regular dismissal. Thank you for the trust you place in us each day!
Good afternoon! Pikeville High School received a threat call approximately two minutes ago similar to those that have been received across the street in previous weeks. Both schools have initiated our safety protocols and police are present at our schools. As with any threat, it will be taken extremely seriously, and all students and staff will be kept safe. We will communicate furthers as we continue to investigate. The PHS excellence awards will be rescheduled to a later date. Thank you for the trust you place in us to educate your children!

Today, the Pikeville Independent School District joins communities across the nation in celebrating School Principals’ Day, a time dedicated to recognizing the visionaries who lead our schools. We are proud to honor two exceptional leaders who serve as the cornerstones of our "Panther Family": Mr. Brandon Blackburn of Pikeville High School and Mrs. Glenda Adkins of Pikeville Elementary School.
The strength of the Pikeville Independent School District lies in the continuity of leadership. From the foundational years at the elementary level to the college-and-career readiness of the high school, both Mr. Blackburn and Mrs. Adkins work tirelessly behind the scenes. Their roles often require long hours, late-night supervision, and the difficult task of navigating the ever-changing landscape of modern education. Yet, they both approach their work with a genuine commitment to the "Panther Family" that is evident to parents, faculty, and students alike.

Panthers Families:
Please keep this in mind as your plan to bring kids to school and pick them up. The message is attached. We know this might cause some traffic issues until everyone becomes more comfortable with it and finds the best path.
Also, please keep in mind that we will have some minimal adjustments to our bus routes that could cause a few minutes difference to our timing. Please be patient with us during our morning and afternoon routes as we make these adjustments as well.
We appreciate the work being done to keep our roads and area safe, and the communication we have received from Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 and their partners.
We hope you have a safe and blessed remainder of your weekend!
