Good morning Panther Family! Thank you for your patience this morning if you were in PHS traffic. At about 7:10 this morning after our buses had departed, a media line of some type dropped down limiting clearance at the entrance of our school. A huge thank you to Pikeville Fire, Pikeville Police, Kentucky Department of Transportation District 12, and Pikeville Public Safety for their assistance throughout the morning in helping us with traffic and getting our day started. We have outstanding community partners, and we are always thankful for them. We hope you have a safe and blessed day!

Regular Schedule: Friday, December 19th, 2025 Good morning! We hope everyone has remained safe following last night's strong storms. As of just before 6:30 this morning, all routes across the district were passable, with no issues. Please be safe on your trip in this morning as there are leaves, sticks and other items that were blown around during the storms. We look forward to seeing everyone on this final school day before our Christmas Break! We hope you have a safe and blessed day!

One Hour Delay: Tuesday, December 16th, 2025 Good evening Panther Family! We had a great day today in Pikeville Independent Schools. It was great to see our kids, families and staff. Roads in our community continue to be very similar across our district to what they were this morning, mainly dry. There was just a minor amount of melting today, and with temperatures dropping into the upper 20's after midnight, Pikeville Independent Schools will be on a ONE HOUR DELAY on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025. Hopefully this will allow for additional daylight, visibility and time for travel for our students, staff, families and buses as they travel in tomorrow morning. I do apologize for multiple delays this week, as I know that is an inconvenience for families, but hopefully after tomorrow, the warmer temperatures will keep us from having that need the remainder of the week. Thank you for your patience and understanding! We hope you have a blessed and wonderful evening!

Good evening Panther Family! After reviewing roads throughout our district, they are overwhelmingly dry and safe for travel. Out of an abundance of caution to allow for additional daylight, better visibility and additional travel for all drivers in our district, Pikeville Independent Schools will be on a ONE HOUR DELAY, Monday, December 15th, 2025. We hope you have a safe, blessed and wonderful evening!

Good morning! Roads across our district have become snow covered, and with temperatures in the upper 20's and snow continuing to fall, this will continue to be the case throughout the morning. As a result, there will be NO SCHOOL today, December 12th, 2025 for Pikeville Independent Schools. We hope you have a safe and blessed weekend and we hope to see everyone back on Monday!

This week Pikeville Elementary STEAM Teacher Amanda Robinson & STLP students participated in the KEDC AI Bootcamp! Check out the video from KEDC: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17tNfvNH7Z/?mibextid=wwXIfr KEDC’s AI Bootcamp is an exciting, hands-on experience where students learn how artificial intelligence actually works — and how they can use it to create, solve problems, and shape the future. During the bootcamp, students experiment with real AI tools, build mini-projects, explore career pathways, and learn how to use technology safely and responsibly. They’ll discover how AI shows up in everyday life, from weather forecasting to medicine to entertainment, and get to try things that spark creativity and confidence. KEDC’s AI Bootcamp empowers students to become leaders in a rapidly changing world, giving them the skills and inspiration they need to take on new challenges — including the Presidential AI Challenge itself.

Good evening Panther Family! In order to allow for additional daylight for visibility and additional time for travel, Pikeville Independent Schools will be in session on a ONE HOUR DELAY tomorrow, December 9th, 2025. Conditions at this time appear to be sufficient for us to be in session, but we will continue to review them throughout the evening and early morning to assure the delay is adequate for keeping everyone safe. Thank you for your patience during this very early winter weather this school year. I hope you have a safe and blessed evening!

Good morning! After reviewing our roads this morning, there are several slick and snow covered roads across the district, and snow continues to fall. As a result, Pikeville Independent Schools will be CLOSED today, Friday, December 5th, 2025. This is NOT an NTI day, just a regular snow day. We hope you have a safe and blessed weekend, and we can't wait to see everyone back on Monday!

Good evening Panther Families! We have given our roadways time this evening to determine if freezing will become an issue. Each bridge we have travelled is extremely slick and ice covered, and with temperatures remaining in the 20's through late morning, it doesn't appear conditions will improve in a way that will be safe for our buses, students, faculty and staff to safely travel to school. As a result, there will be NO SCHOOL for Pikeville Independent Schools on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025. I apologize for the late message, but my hope is that making the call this evening will assist families in making childcare plans for tomorrow, and not interrupt work and other activities. We are excited for the Veteran's Day program, and hope to be able to move that to Wednesday morning. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience as we work to always strive to keep all members of our Panther Family safe. I hope you have a blessed and safe evening!

Good afternoon! I hope each of you are enjoying this cold day. Pikeville Independent Schools will be completing the school day with regular dismissal times today. After conversation with the National Weather Service, and in looking at the future radars at our disposal, we have made the determination that ALL after school activities will be completed by 5pm. There are some changes to schedules of previously planned activities and some have been cancelled, and all that communication will come through individual coaches. Students will be asked by coaches to depart at the completion of the activity time and make their way home. It does not appear that we should have significant weather this evening, but there is the possibility, and with cold temperatures and chances of accumulating snow through the dusk hours, we felt it necessary to make this decision. We work hard to make sure that we always do our best to make the decision that we believe to be safest for our students, staff, and families. We hope you have a blessed and safe evening!
